Trust me, filming is loads of fun and being on set is a great experience (just check out bloopers on YouTube form any movie to see what it’ll really be like).
TRAINING
Chances are that you’ll be looking to have one of your people on camera delivering the information they know best to the rest of your staff. And chances are that they’ll do anything not to be on camera.
The normal “so and so will be better than me” or “with my face, I’ll crack the camera lens”, with be uttered and possibly (normally) the odd bit of cursing too.
But, I’ve worked with so many ‘newbies’ in front of the camera that getting an amazing performance out of someone who really doesn’t want to be there is what I love to do. You’ll never believe me but everyone who steps in front of camera saying “I’ve been up worrying about this all night” come away saying “that wasn’t too bad, I was really starting to get into that”. Plus, the best thing is that that they’re happy to come back to do it again and again.
One great bit of kit that’ll help out too is the autocue. This sits in front of the camera with your script rolling across. We can adjust it for any reading speed (so that you sound natural) and make the text larger so it’s easier to read if your sights not what it used to be.
There’s simple tips and tricks which I’ll give anyone getting in front of camera and a few things which I’ll do (that you wont even notice until we finish) that’ll make you feel comfortable and confident to deliver the message.
MARKETING
In marketing there’s two ways to go, hire an actor who will give your company a slick professional appeal, or feature real faces of the people at your company.
If you go the route of using your own staff, how will they feel comfortable? Well, first off, remember that I’ve worked with lots and lots of people before (including BNZ, Pita Pit, D3…just check out ‘Simons Showreel’ at www.tasmanbaymedia.co.nz) and getting an engaging performance which brings out your personality is what I do.
Mostly, try to relax, you’ll only be doing on camera what you do everyday. A lot of the time you’ll be concentrating on what you’re doing and you’ll forget the camera’s even there (apart from the occasional call of “smile!” from behind the camera). And if we need you to talk to camera it’ll normally be something quite short and you can do it as many times as you like to make sure it’s perfect. Also, if your piece to camera is a little longer we can put your script on the autocue so you can just read it out.
TASMAN BAY MEDIA know that your company wants your people to feel engaging and confident on camera, that’s just what you’ll get with us, get in touch today with Kate on 027 22 67 118.
That’s all for now, check out more hot tips on the Tasman Bay Media blog.
